Adventures in Baby Food

About a month ago I tried making Ian some baby food at home and didn't get very good results.  Now that I think about it I believe that I made the texture too thick.  At the time I was just upset that he didn't like what I made so it took me some time to work up the nerve to try again.  Well, this week, I did try again and had really great results.  Ian has now had avocado, spinach, strawberries, and blueberries that didn't come out of a jar.  And he really loved it!  I can't wait to try some of the actual meals with meat and vegetables and grains.  That is my goal for the next trip to the grocery store.  (By the way, I don't plan on giving up on jars completely, they are just way too convenient.)

And while we are on the subject of Ian eating . . . .

Clara will sometimes help me feel Ian and actually does a great job.  She even does the clean up the face thing with the spoon!

I have been remiss in my goal to document Ian's developmental achievements.  So I think that the last time I mentioned anything, Ian was sitting on his own.  So now here he is STANDING already.  And he crawls like a champ.  He loves to explore anywhere he can get to.  He really is my sunshine and joy, I am so grateful that he is a part of our family.  (The last few pictures have been from my phone, not bad quality for a phone picture huh?)

Swinging Ian

Ian got to experience a swing for the first time today!  Actually I can't believe he is 8 months and this is his first swing.  I guess parks aren't quite as convenient as they were in San Francisco when Clara was a baby.  And Clara gets a lot of playground time now when she is in pre-school.  Anyway, he really liked it!  At first he wasn't too sure, but got over that quickly and enjoyed!

Having 2 has its Perks!

Adam and I cleaned our cars out while Ian and Clara entertained themselves on the lawn.  I love that they like to play together, and Clara really is so helpful with her little brother!
